How every nine-grid template works

Each nine-grid template on this site follows the same three steps, so once you have made one poster you can make them all. Search real items from open community databases, fill nine slots in any order, then arrange and export. The editor runs entirely in your browser: drafts autosave locally, images never upload to a server, and the exported PNG is generated on your device. No account, no watermark, no waiting on a render queue — the nine-grid you build is the nine-grid you download.

Every nine-grid template ships with the same six poster themes — warm paper, dark, cream, vinyl, neon and red — and the same three export sizes: a 1080×1080 square for social feeds, a 1800×2100 poster for printing and framing, and a 1080×1920 story for vertical formats. Names under each slot are optional, a title and signature are free to edit, and a share link encodes your exact nine picks so anyone can open the same nine-grid and remix it into their own with one tap.

Why the nine-grid format works

A nine-grid forces honesty. Nine slots are enough to show range — eras, genres, moods — but few enough that every choice carries weight. That is why the format keeps resurfacing for albums, cards, anime, books and games: one glance at a filled nine-grid tells a story that a paragraph of text cannot. The center square anchors it, the corners frame it, and the gaps between your choices say as much as the picks themselves.

There is a social mechanic hiding in the nine-grid, too. When someone opens your poster, they silently rerun the exercise: which of your nine would they keep, and what would they swap in? The share link makes that impulse real — a friend can load your exact nine-grid, replace one pick, and export their own version in under a minute. One poster becomes a conversation, and the conversation is what keeps the format spreading. A nine-grid is small enough to finish in one sitting, and personal enough to be worth finishing.

My9Albums exists to make that nine-grid moment effortless. No spreadsheet screenshotting, no collage app with watermark export, no account for a tool you will use once. Open a template, fill your nine, download the poster — and if a topic you want is missing, tell us and it may be the next nine-grid template on this page.

Picking your first nine-grid

Start with whatever you can list without thinking — the nine albums you would save from a fire, the nine cards you checked prices for this month, the anime you recommend to strangers. A first nine-grid takes about two minutes; perfection can come later, because your draft waits in your browser until you return. If you fill eight slots and stall on the ninth, that pause is normal — the last square of a nine-grid is where taste shows.

A few rules of thumb from the posters people share most: contrast beats consistency (old next to new, loud next to quiet), the center square belongs to the one item you would defend in an argument, and turning names on makes a nine-grid friendlier for people who do not share your obsession. Beyond that, every nine-grid is correct as long as it is honestly yours — pick the topic above that made you start mentally listing, and the tool will handle the rest.

Missing a nine-grid topic?

This directory grows topic by topic, and every new nine-grid template has to clear the same bar before it appears here: a legal, reliable data source; images we are allowed to show; search that actually works; and the full nine-slot editor you see on every existing page. That is why you will never find a half-finished template linked from this list — a nine-grid page that cannot be filled, arranged and exported is not worth your click, and we would rather ship nothing than ship a stub.

If there is a nine-grid you want that is missing — nine books, nine games, nine artworks, nine songs — say so. Requests shape what gets built next, and the most-requested topics move to the front of the line. In the meantime, the three templates above cover the classics: the music poster that started the trend, a Pokémon cards grid for collectors, and an anime nine-grid for the series that raised you. Whichever you pick, the rule stays the same: nine honest choices, one poster, zero friction.
