Find Pokémon by name or type
Start typing any species name — Pikachu, Charizard, Garchomp — and the picker matches it against the full national Pokédex, from Bulbasaur at #1 to the newest generation. Results arrive with the Pokémon's real number, its official artwork and its actual types, pulled live from PokéAPI, the community database of record for species data. Every entry on this page is a Pokémon species — the character itself, not a card. If you want to arrange nine specific trading cards with their sets and numbers, the My 9 Cards grid is the tool for that; the two pages never mix their data.
Under the grid, the suggestion panel takes type and generation instead of making you remember names: tap Fire, Dark, Gen 2, and real species from the curated seed rise to the top. Duplicate protection works on species — one Pikachu per grid, but Pikachu and Raichu are different Pokémon and both are welcome. Artwork letterboxes on the cell instead of cropping, so nothing ever slices through a tail or a horn.
Pick your favorites by generation
Every Pokémon belongs to a generation — the cohort it debuted in — and for most players a generation is a chapter of life. The suggestion panel's Generation row lets you skew your nine toward Kanto nostalgia, the Johto evening playthrough, or the newest Switch era without judging you for it. Type works the same way: build a full Fire lineup, a Ghost-and-Dark spooky shelf, or the six-types-that-can-be- friends arrangement nobody agrees on.
The generation filter also settles arguments. "Original 151 only" is one tap; "every generation but mine is wrong" is, respectfully, also one tap. However you choose, the center slot remains sacred — the one Pokémon you would pick first in every game, every time, without hesitation. Most people know theirs before they finish reading this sentence.
Create a nine-Pokémon collage
- 1. Choose your nine. Search by name or tap your type and generation preferences and add from the suggestions — or open an example grid below and remix it. Drag species into position on desktop, nudge them with the arrow buttons on mobile.
- 2. Style the poster. Six themes — paper, dark, cream, vinyl, neon and red — recolor the whole composition; a title, subtitle and your handle finish it. Official artwork floats letterboxed on each cell, so the full character always shows, silhouette to shadow.
- 3. Export and share. Download a 1080×1080 square, a 1800×2100 poster or a 1080×1920 story — rendered in your browser, free, no watermark, no account. The share link encodes your exact nine Pokémon so friends can open it, swap your sixth pick for theirs, and export their own grid in under a minute.
Your draft saves automatically in this browser, separately from every other nine-grid you build here. Come back tomorrow and your Pokémon team poster is exactly where you left it.
Pokémon examples you can remix

There is no wrong lineup, but the grids people share tend to follow a few shapes. The starter party keeps the first partner in the center and builds around it with the team that carried the story. The type squad commits to one energy — nine Fire species glowing together — or one species per type as a personal Pokédex highlight reel. The generation shelf holds the nine that define one game, and the fan-favorite mix ignores all structure and simply posts the ones that make the heart rate spike.
A few quiet rules the tool enforces for you. Each slot holds one species identified by its Pokédex number, so the Base Set Pikachu question never arises here — that is a card question, and cards live on the My 9 Cards page. Artwork comes from the official illustrations published with each species, shown complete. And nothing uploads anywhere: your grid, your draft and your exported poster stay on your device unless you choose to share the link or the image.

FAQ about the Pokémon grid maker
Is this for Pokémon characters or trading cards?
Characters. This page selects nine Pokémon species — Pikachu the species, with its number and official artwork. The My 9 Cards page is the trading-card version, where every pick is a specific card with a set and number. Same editor, different collections.
Can I mix Pokémon from different generations?
Yes — every species from Gen 1 to the current generation is searchable, and mixing eras is half the fun. The suggestion panel's generation row exists precisely for building era-skewed grids quickly.
Can I use type preferences to build my nine?
Yes. Tap the types you love in the suggestion panel and real species from a hand-picked seed rank themselves for you. Fire-only teams, Ghost squads and one-per-type rosters all take under a minute.
Can I share my Pokémon grid with a friend?
Yes — once all nine are chosen, Copy Link builds a URL that reopens your exact grid on any device, order and theme included. Friends can remix it, swap one Pokémon, and export their own version in seconds.
Is the Pokémon poster really free?
Yes: all themes, all three export sizes, suggestions and link sharing are free with no watermark and no account. Everything renders in your browser and drafts stay on your device.
