Search Magic cards and sets
The search box above queries Scryfall, the most complete Magic database in the world, live and in your browser. Type Lightning Bolt, Snapcaster Mage or Emrakul — or just a fragment of an MTG card name you half remember — and real catalog entries come back with their set and collector number. Every result is a specific MTG card identified by its own Scryfall id, so two cards that share a word never blend into one pick, and the same card can never fill two slots of your MTG grid.
Double-faced MTG cards display their front face, and each entry carries its real set name — Innistrad Remastered, Foundations, Limited Edition Alpha — so an MTG grid reads like a trade binder, not a guess. Below the grid, the Not sure what to pick? panel ranks hand-verified MTG classics by color and card type: tap Red and Instant and the MTG burn spells surface; tap Green and Creature and the monsters arrive. Every suggestion is a real card from that curated list — nothing invented, no fake popularity numbers.
Build a 9-card MTG collage
An MTG grid is a deck-building autobiography. Most players fill the center square first — the card that won the game nobody thought could be won — and then the honest work begins. Some arrange their nine MTG picks by format: the Standard season that clicked, the Modern staples saved for over months, the Commander engine nobody else at the table enjoys. Others go by color identity, a full mono-red burn row against a control spine, or by era: Alpha art beside this year's MTG printings, thirty years of the game on one poster.
Drag cards into position on desktop, nudge them with the arrow buttons on mobile, and pick from six themes — paper, dark, cream, vinyl, neon and red. A title, a subtitle and your handle finish the MTG poster; turn on card names under the grid for readers who do not know every piece of MTG art on sight. When all nine MTG cards are placed, export a 1080×1080 square, a 1800×2100 poster or a 1080×1920 story — rendered in your browser, free, no watermark, no account. The share link encodes your exact nine cards so a friend can open your MTG grid, swap one card for theirs, and export their own version in under a minute. Drafts save automatically in your browser, so slot nine can take as long as slot nine needs.
Find cards by color and card type
Color is how MTG players think, so the suggestion panel leads with it: White, Blue, Black, Red, Green and Colorless — the MTG color pie itself — each tap re-ranking the curated candidates. Card type is the second lever — Creature, Instant, Sorcery, Planeswalker, Artifact, Enchantment and Land — and together they cover the axes every MTG deck is actually built on. A nine-instant nightmare grid, a planeswalker lineup, a colorless artifact machine: all of them are two taps away from existing.
Prefer to browse real sets? Search accepts set names too — type the set you opened as a kid and pick from what comes back. However you fill your MTG grid, the rule stays the same as every other grid on this site: nine honest choices, one poster, zero friction.
MTG examples you can remix
These example MTG grids are real, live posters built from actual Scryfall entries — not mockups, and every card in them is a real, current MTG entry. Tap Use this grid on any of them and the editor opens with all nine cards loaded, ready to rearrange, retitle and export as your own.

Icons of the Game
The cards that built the legend — Black Lotus, the Mox, Ancestral Recall, Time Walk and the one-mana spells every MTG deck still measures itself against.

Card names, sets, collector numbers and images are provided by Scryfall, a community-built Magic: The Gathering card database, through its public API. Magic: The Gathering and its card artwork are trademarks and copyright of Wizards of the Coast. This is an unofficial fan tool with no affiliation or endorsement — cards are shown so you can assemble a personal MTG poster, and all rights remain with their owners. Collectors of other games: the Pokémon card grid uses the same editor, and every nine-grid template on the site is one click away.
FAQ about the MTG card grid maker
Can I choose different printings of a card?
Search returns one representative entry per card — the pick is the card itself, with its set and collector number shown on the result. Two different cards with similar names stay separate picks; the same card can never fill two slots of your MTG grid.
Does the maker keep the full card art visible?
Yes. Magic cards are taller than square, so every cell letterboxes the complete card — rules text, artist credit and legal line intact. Nothing is cropped, blurred, stretched or covered by a watermark in any theme or export size.
Is this an official Wizards of the Coast tool?
No. This is an unofficial fan project with no affiliation or endorsement. Card data comes from Scryfall and MTG artwork belongs to Wizards of the Coast; it is shown for personal MTG grid assembly and free personal posters only.
Can I share my MTG grid with a friend?
Yes — once all nine cards are selected, Copy Link builds a URL that reopens your exact grid on any device, order and theme included. Friends can remix it, swap one card, and export their own MTG poster in seconds.
Is the MTG card grid really free?
Yes: every theme, all three export sizes, suggestions and link sharing are free with no watermark and no account. Everything renders in your browser and drafts stay on your device.
